Robert G. Picard, Prof. (Department of Politics and International Relations at University of Oxford)

Prof. Robert G. Picard is one of the world’s leading academic experts on media economics and management and government communications policies. He is North American Advisor for the Reuters Institute in the Department of Politics and International Relations at University of Oxford, a fellow of the Royal Society of the Arts, and an affiliated fellow of the Information Society Project at Yale Law School, Yale University. He was formerly Director of Research at the Reuters Institute, University of Oxford, and a research fellow at Green Templeton College, Oxford. He is also on the faculties of the University of Canberra, Australia, the Institute of Media and Entertainment, IESE Business School in New York, the Center for Media Management and Economics at Tsinghua University in China, and the University of Tampere, Finland.

Gregory F. Lowe, Prof. (Northwestern University in Qatar)

Gregory Ferrell Lowe has taught at the University of Tampere, George Washington University, Vienna University of Applied Sciences, Jonkoping International Business School in Sweden, and the University of Westminster.

From 1997 – 2007 he had high-level media management experience as senior advisor for corporate strategy and development at Yle Finland, the national public broadcasting corporation (similar to the BBC in Britain), and concurrently for four years served as the designer and head of Yle Program Development.

Lowe holds a PhD in Radio-Television-Film from the University of Texas at Austin and an MA in mass communication from Ohio State University. In addition to his academic posts, Lowe served as president of the European Media Management Association for two terms, is continuity director for the RIPE International Initiative for Public Service Development in Media and will take over as chair of the World Media Economics and Management Conference at the conclusion of the May 2018 event in Cape Town.

His publications include 10 edited books and eBooks, as well as 45 refereed and scholarly publications on topics ranging from managing media firms to public service media, media finance, cross-border network issues, convergence, and challenges for theory development in the field. He is the series editor for the seven RIPE Readers published by Nordicom since 2003. The eighth book is titled Public Service Media in the Networked Society.

Lowe was lead editor for a best-selling book published by Springer Scientific, titled Managing Media Firms and Industries: What’s so special about media management? He has also published numerous articles in journals that include Journal of Communication, European Journal of Communication, Journal of Broadcasting and Electronic Media, Journal of Media Business Studies, and International Journal on Media Management.

Sylvia Chan-Olmsted is the Director of Media Consumer Research at the University of Florida. Her research expertise includes digital/mobile media consumption, branding, and strategic management in emerging media/communications industries. Her current studies involve AI in media, media brand trust assessment, audience engagement conceptualization/measurement, development and marketing of mobile media content, cross-platform audience behavior, and branded content.

Gillian Doyle is an economist with special interest in media and cultural industries. Gillian worked as a media equities analyst for a leading Swiss bank and in financial journalism prior to setting up the UK’s first Masters programme in the area of media management and economics. She now leads the MSc in Media Management at the University of Glasgow and is one of the main contributors to the core teaching in this subject area. In recognition of her contribution to research in the field Gillian was presented with the Journal of Media Economics Honour Award 2021 and she was recently awarded the European Media Management Association (EMMA) prize for outstanding contribution to scholarship.

Gillian’s research interests encompass media economics and media and cultural policy. Her work on the economics of mass media and on media ownership has been translated and published in several languages. She is on the editorial boards of the Journal of Media Economics, Journal of Cultural Economics, the International Journal on Media Management, Journal of Media Business Studies, Journalism: Theory Practice Criticism, Journal of Media and Cultural Politics, Convergence: The International Journal of Research into New Media Technologies, Media International Australia, Media Industries and the Nordic Journal of Media Studies.

ince 2016, Dr. María Elena Gutiérrez, current Head of the Academy of Economics and Administration at the School of Communication, represents Mexico in the annual research of the Digital News Report. Her participation consists of coordinating the methodological application of the research and interpretation of the results to ensure that the particularities of the Mexican media environment are reflected and studied in the context of international trends in the field of digital journalism.

Anna Jupowicz-Ginalska is an Associate Professor at the University of Warsaw in the Faculty of Journalism, Information, and Book Studies. Additionally, she serves as the Deputy Director of the Doctoral School of Social Sciences. Prof. Jupowicz-Ginalska is an accomplished author and presenter, having published numerous papers and actively participated in many academic conferences. She is also a member of the Editorial Board for the Journal of Media Business Studies and the Reviewers Board for Future Internet, Sustainability, and Social Sciences. She serves on the Scientific Boards of Journalism and Media, Styles of Communication, Revista Multidisciplinar, and Journal of Creative Industries and Cultural Studies. In 2010, she won the “Golden Wings” award for her book “Media Marketing”.

Prof. Jupowicz-Ginalska initiates and leads the research project “FOMO. Poles and Fear of Missing Out” (2018-…), the first representative study of FOMO and its related phenomena in Poland. Additionally, Prof. Jupowicz-Ginalska is a co-investigator in the project “Diversity Management as Innovation in Journalism” (POLS): where she is a part of the Ukrainian Task Force focusing on D&I related to the war in Ukraine (https://managingnewsroomdiversity.com).

She is an experienced academic teacher and practitioner, having developed her skills in PR agencies, media, and as a representative of the Dean for Promotion.

Prof. Jupowicz-Ginalska is the initiator and team leader of The Knowledge-Share Communities (#university&emmahub) and an active member of the emma community. She also leads the Organising Committee of the World Media Economics and Management Conference 2025, held in Warsaw on May 20-24 (www.wmemc2025.wdib.uw.edu.pl).

Research interests: media marketing, media management, media diversity and inclusion, the impact of new technologies on human life, FOMO and related phenomena, VR, and media polarization.

Ksenia Wróblewska is a PhD student at the Doctoral School of Social Sciences at the University of Warsaw, specializing in social communication and media studies. She holds degrees in Journalism and Media Studies, Cultural Studies – Intercultural Relations, and American Studies – Culture of the United States. Ksenia’s doctoral dissertation focuses on media marketing strategies for on-demand (VOD) platforms. In addition to her academic pursuits, Ksenia works as a Project Management Team Lead in the advertising agency, where she collaborates with clients from all over the world and oversees the implementation of e-commerce, digital, and web maintenance projects.

Currently, she works as a lecturer at the Faculty of Journalism, Information and Book Studies, having previously been employed as an assistant professor at the University of Justice. Alongside her academic work, she is also a psychotherapist and holds certifications as an addiction therapist and psychosocial skills trainer. She is also a trainee supervisor in the field of addiction psychotherapy.

Anita Zawisza is an Assistant Professor at the University of Warsaw, Poland. She completed her doctoral studies in film and audiovisual research. Olga Dąbrowska-Cendrowska is a professor in social communication and media sciences. She works at the Institute of Media, Journalism and Social Communication at Jan Kochanowski University of Kielce. Member of the Polish Communication Association (Head of the Research Section – Media and Mass Communication) and coordinator of the Erasmus+ Programme for the field of journalism and social communication. is an Associate Professor and Head of the Journalism Department at the Institute of Journalism and Social Communication, University of Warmia and Mazury, Poland. Her research interests centre on radio and community media. She is the author of the books Radio studenckie w Polsce [Student radio in Poland, 2008], Radio społeczne – trzeci obok publicznego i komercyjnego sektor radiowy [Community radio – the third in addition to the public and commercial radio sector, 2016] and Pirate Waves. Polish Private Radio Broadcasting in the Period of Transformation 1989–1995 [2022]. She is also a former Vice President of the Community Media Forum Europe, a member of the Advisory Board of Prison Radio International and the Editorial Board of the journal Media-Kultura-Komunikacja Społeczna [Media – Culture – Social Communication].

I am a habilitated doctor in media sciences, a doctor of economic sciences, an assistant professor at the Faculty of Journalism, Information and Bibliology at the University of Warsaw.
I am the author of three monographs: “Public relations in the management of organizational crisis situations. The art of communication” (Warsaw 2015), “Public relations in the space of social media” (Koszalin 2013), “Internet Public Relations. “Polish realities of public relations activities on the Internet” (Koszalin 2010), scientific editor of two collective monographs and over 80 articles on communication and public relations.

For over two decades, I have been advising and training company management boards, representatives of local governments, public institutions and other organizations.
I advise in difficult situations when the crisis reaches the media, and I also help construct strategies that include preventive actions to minimize the risk of a crisis occurring.
I carry out communication audits indicating the strengths and weaknesses of the organization’s communication, but also potential opportunities and threats.

I am the winner of the PRoton 2013 and Lew PR 2013 industry awards in the field of public relations education.

Graduate of the Master’s degree in Journalism and Social Communication (Jagiellonian University 2009) and postgraduate studies in Marketing on the Web (Rev. J. Tischner European University, 2010). Author, co-author and editor of more than 90 scientific publications – monographs, scientific articles, reports and reviews, several from Scopus and Web of Science databases. Participant of more than 70 scientific conferences. Member of the editorial board and reviewer of leading scientific journals at home and abroad. is a habilitated doctor in Media Studies and holds a PhD in Economics. She serves as an Associate Professor at the University of Gdansk and is the Director of the Institute of
Media, Journalism, and Social Communication at the same university. Prof. Łosiewicz has authored and co-authored over 90 scientific papers and publications in the areas of public relations, social
communication, and new media. She is an expert in Science Advice for Policy by European Academies, a member of the Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences, and a Board Member of the Polish
Communication Association.
